The Spanish infinitive is used frequently after conjugated verbs.
Quiero salir. I have to leave.
Generally, Spanish infinitives do not need a preposition the way English does. The "to" that is used in English is understood by the use of the infinitive. There are exceptions.
Ir
When using a verb form of the Spanish word ir, such as voy, vas, va, vamos, ... add the Spanish preposition a before the infinitive that follows.
Voy a compar. I am going camping or I am going to camp.
There is much, much more to the Spanish infinitive, but let's leave it at this for now.
